Holding court in the main square of the ancient village of iż-Żurrieq, with breathtakingly dramatic cathedral views, Sisters’ Palace is full of old-world charm and grandeur featuring reliefs dating back to the Knights of Malta. Having housed nobility in its hay-day, the palazzo is situated in the best position in the town and is a mere bike ride away from the awe inspiring Wied iż-Żurrieq, Qrendi, Lapsi beach, and the Blue Grotto – one of the top SCUBA spots in the world. After a short six minute car ride, you’ll find yourself at the doorstep of the Malta International Airport. Even with such proximity to the country’s aviation gateway, you will never hear the roar of jet engines. In addition to these platitudes, nearby beach side restaurants, and quick access to the three cities and Valletta are to be had while enjoying the serenity of one of Malta’s cleanest and most peaceful towns to return to.
Upon entering this property, one is welcomed by a stunning, ornate hall with barrel-shaped ceiling with motifs dating back to the Knights period enhancing the already imposing architecture. A central courtyard drenches property’s ground floor with natural light as do the skylights over the staircase and the kitchen. The staircase’s scale and position within the building allow it to be continued up an additional two floors and again, into the cellar, easily spanning the entire height of the property.
Comprising 12 large rooms, including a majestic piano nobile with a traditional wooden balcony that runs across the width of the living room, it also includes the former servants’ stone spiral staircase (garigor), original patterned and marble flooring and wooden beams.
